it seems like there's really one reason you're not recommending the new Arc GPU - driver development. This shouldn't be a surprise as it killed the Larabee program in 2010 - just as now, drivers were the problem as the hardware was killer and ended up being the core architecture for the Knights Bridge or rather by it's commercial name Xeon Phi. Synchronizing the driver's multi core management across the 84 cores was the problem back then, and it sounds like it might be one of the problems today given the issues with DX11 and earlier. My advice for any new product is - sit out the first gen hardware releases until such point that several driver updates have been completed and latest reviews show the improvements. Or just wait for the 2nd gen graphics cards and take advantage of everyone else's investment to get a product that will be fully baked for the market.

Intel has had great success in the CPU and server hardware, SSDs, m.2 tech - there's enough smart people who work there who I know will nail this down right. I know this because I worked there for 4 years back in the early mid 2010's and know many of them.
